Hallym produced a Recipient of ‘President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program’

Dr. Min Kyoung Kang at the Department of Food and Nutrition, Hallym University has been selected as a recipient of President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, which is one of the national research projects to educate the next generation in the field of Science and Engineering.

The President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program sponsored by the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea supports young investigators with world-class research accomplishments or with outstanding research abilities, for the purpose of ensuring their research activities and enhancing the quality of research. A total of 32 projects have been selected this year, and each fellowship recipient will be funded with 130 million won per year ($115,000) for a five-year period.

Dr. Kang’s project entitled “Studies on Molecular Nutritional Mechanisms of Nobiletin and Tangeretin which control diabetic microvascular complication” got favorable reviews in terms of its necessity and vision of the research that will help restrain ongoing increase of diabetes and its complications.


Dr. Kang has actively worked on metabolic disease in her doctoral course, publishing 23 papers in SCI journals with her investigations on bioactive effects of dietary origin natural substances against diabetic kidney disease and retinopathy.

Dr. Kang is expected to contribute to the academic development of Molecular Nutrition through her research on the preventive effects of natural substances against diabetes and diabetic complications over the next five years.
